Winter Solstice 2025

Today is the Winter Solstice 2025, the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. From here, it’s all uphill. The days get longer and the nights shorter. Of course, those changes are subtle, but eventually, everyone will know what’s going on with the weather.

I don’t know why I am constantly fascinated with the two Solstices (summer and winter) or the two Equinoxes (Autumn and Spring), but I am, and I have been since I was a child. I cemented my fascination when I learned they were directly related to the Earth’s revolution around the Sun, the star that gives us life and warmth. Of course, in the dead of winter, it may not seem like it’s warming us, but trust me, without our Sun, the planet would be colder than -400 degrees,… well, you get the idea.

In short, the human race would not exist. Period.

So welcome the existence of the Sun, warming us as we travel around it in its orbit. Celebrate the change of the seasons. Today is the Winter Solstice 2025. I celebrate it, and I hope you do too. And if you do, know that I celebrate it along with you, at least in spirit.
