Last Month Today

Hello friends, welcome to Last Month Today, a quick update on what’s been going on with my writing.

Before I continue, let me say that the title of this update is, without a doubt, a nod to John Oliver’s multi-Emmy-winning show, ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,’ which airs weekly on HBO. If you’ve never seen the show, I urge you to check it out. It’s funny but deals with serious topics affecting our lives. It’s roughly 30 minutes a week. Come on, try it, you will like it.

Last Week Tonight

Last Month Today

It’s been over a month since I last wrote to you. Well, it’s been a busy one. Doing my initial edits and working with my editor on my latest book, ‘Retribution,’ takes time. I’m happy to report that we’ve completed the editing, and I’m moving on to the final stages of getting it published.

That means cover design, formatting the manuscript for publication, website updates, and uploading the book for publication. Yes, there is still a lot of work, but the end is in sight. Decades ago, a friend taught me a saying about this stage. I’m down to the ‘short rows,’ an obvious nod to farmers working their fields.

Moving On

Over the past weekend, I did the initial formatting of the book, which I may need to tweak as I create the cover and put it all together. I also started on the book cover. Sometimes, making the book cover is harder than writing the damn book. I want to find the perfect photo that describes what is inside the book while catching the eye of the potential buyer. If I can’t grab their attention in the first ten seconds, I will lose them as a reader. That’s just a fact in the world of books. I need to make my book stand out from the millions of others my story must compete against.

That Said

In closing this issue of ‘Last Month Today,’ I anticipate that ‘Retribution,’ book 6 in my Consortium series, will be available to read within the next thirty days. I’ll make the book available for pre-ordering as soon as I finalize the book cover. Stay tuned.

I know it’s been six months since book 5, ‘Exposure,’ came out, but you know what? My preference is quality over quantity. I hope you do too.

I’ve read all 6 consortium books. You got me hooked. I patiently wait for book 8 to see the consortium finally taken down.not happy that Avril has become such a sex fiend and accepts her life as a slave. She has lost her innocence and humility. She seems a bit conflicted on what is right and wrong

I just finished your sixth book and thought it was the last. Very disappointed in the ending, but after reading your response felt better and am looking forward to seeing what Avril does. I’d also like to know what happens to Sir’s assistant.

Definitely content and quality- your work is amazing. I was so happy when you continued the Consortium’s story. I’d thought that Avril’s story had ended, leaving us to wonder how her story might’ve continued and wouldn’t it be wonderful if…then came Perfect Prey. I realized that Avril’s story would continue and would ultimately end with… the final book is on the way and I can’t wait to be whisked away to another world, one that is reminiscent of Ancient Rome. (I’ve loved the idea of emperors and their ‘Colliseum’ (sp?)
games. It would’ve been an interesting era to observe but not necessarily experience.)

Who said this would be the final book? Avril will return in book 7 of the Consortium series.
